The Aquatic Biotechnology Lab, awarded in the 25th FOROACUI Awards
The IIM-CSIC's Aquatic Biotechnology Lab was awarded the first audiovisual prize of the 25th Marine Resources and Aquaculture Forum of the Galician Estuaries.
Vigo, Tuesday, October 17, 2023. The jury of the XXV FOROACUI together with the Spanish Aquaculture Society awarded the 1st AUDIOVISUAL PRIZE with a endowment of 200 euros for the work presented by the Aquatic Biotechnology Lab of the Institute of Marine Research - CSIC.
The work, titled "Animal welfare and domestication of the common octopus: a metagenomic approach", is carried out by Daniel Costas Imbernón under the supervision of Josep Rotllant and María Saura, with the participation of Teresa Sequeiro and Carolina Costas-Prado (IIM) and in collaboration with the company PESCANOVA, through Pablo Touriñan, Pablo García- Fernández, Ricardo Tur and David Chavarrías.
The Laboratory directed by Josep Rotllant applies molecular and cellular approaches to the study of the first stages of fish development as well as the diseases that affect them, in addition to applying basic science to improve performance , the efficiency and sustainability of marine aquaculture worldwide.
