The UCC+i of IIM publishes a paper comparing the structure of Scientific Culture in Spain and the UK
The article is a first step in the budding effort of the Engagement with the Public Unit of the centre to become a reference in research in the field of studies of Science, Technology and Society (STS).
Gabriela Ojeda, manager of the Engagement with the Public Unit at IIM, is the lead author of the article "Organizational Forms of Scientific Communication: European Higher Education Systems in the United Kingdom and Spain as Paradigms."
Published in the journal Higher Education, the article addresses, from a comparative point of view, the different institutional structures of social communication of science in the university system in Spain and the United Kingdom. This study offers an overview of what are two "Models of Dissemination and Management of Scientific Culture", through the analysis of the main organizational structures that make them up: the Spanish Units of Culture and Scientific Innovation (UCC+i) and their counterparts in the UK.
The differences and similarities between these units are explored from a structural and functional perspective, as well as the main factors that drive and condition both management systems, to end by giving a series of recommendations for the best development of the Spanish scientific system. in the field of Scientific Culture.
